The Filipec family is one of the oldest Samobor families and we are well known as manufacturers of Bermet and Samobor Mustard which have been made in our family since the 19th century. The family was involved in the marketing and refinement of leather, and Bermet and Mustard were manufactured for private use.
After 1946, when most of the Josip Joco Filipec’s estate and the leather factory employing 30 workers were confiscated, he was left without any income. After finding himself in hardship, he began a commercial production of Bermet and Samobor Mustard which in time has become a trademark of Samobor.
In the sixties of the previous century, his son Vojko joined the production.
According to Joco’s testament, after his death, the older son (Vojko) inherited the family tradition of Bermet production, and the younger son (Antun Dubravko) continued the Mustard production.
In the beginning of the nineties of the last century, his grandson Antun joined the production and in 1999 he established a trade for production of grapes and wine – “Family Filipec”, and continued the tradition, developing and expanding the circle of Bermet and Mustard admirers.
Both products have become unavoidable symbols of the town of Samobor and its gastronomic offer.
